The CHAIR UBUD WOODEN SEAT is a dining and accent chair constructed entirely from solid teak wood. Teak is a dense, close-grained hardwood native to South and Southeast Asia, widely recognized for its high natural oil content. These oils provide inherent resistance to moisture, decay, and insect damage without requiring synthetic sealants. The natural grain pattern of the wood varies across each individual unit, displaying straight to wavy grain variations in shades ranging from golden honey to medium brown. Over time, unfinished teak exposed to ambient light and air develops a characteristic silvery-grey patina, though the original hue can be maintained through periodic application of teak oil.
The structural dimensions measure 57.00 cm in width, 56.00 cm in depth, and 79.00 cm in total height. The seating surface is integrated directly into the wooden frame, presenting a solid teak platform rather than an upholstered cushion. The backrest curves gently to follow the natural contours of the human spine, providing lumbar support through shaped wooden slats rather than padding. The armrests are formed as continuous extensions of the front and rear legs, sanded to a smooth, rounded profile with no sharp edges.
Four vertical legs taper slightly from the seat junction downward to the floor, distributing the 8.00 kg total weight evenly across the footprint. Mortise and tenon joinery is utilized throughout the primary load-bearing connections, fitting interlocking wooden components together without relying entirely on metal fasteners or adhesives. This traditional woodworking method allows the wood to expand and contract naturally with seasonal changes in humidity and temperature without compromising structural integrity.
Each chair occupies a shipping volume of 0.2700 cubic meters (CBM) when packaged. The surface finish is sanded to a fine grit, leaving the raw texture of the teak exposed to touch. Routine maintenance requires only a damp cloth for cleaning, and stubborn marks can be addressed with fine-grit sandpaper followed by a light coat of natural oil. The compact footprint makes the chair suitable for standard dining tables, writing desks, or reception areas where floor space is limited. The solid wood construction supports daily commercial or residential use, standing up to regular movement and shifting without loosening at the joints.
