Vanity Entry Building

Vanity Entry Building

The VANITY ENTRY BUILDING is a freestanding architectural furniture piece designed for entryways, hallways, and transitional zones within residential or commercial interiors. Crafted entirely from solid teak wood, the unit integrates a structural entryway facade with a dedicated vanity console and storage components. Teak was selected as the primary material due to its high density, natural oil content, and dimensional stability, which prevent warping and degradation in high-traffic transition areas exposed to fluctuating humidity and temperature conditions.

The overall construction measures approximately 180 centimeters in height, 120 centimeters in width, and 50 centimeters in depth, though specific dimensions can vary slightly depending on individual production batches. The vertical framework consists of solid teak posts measuring 6 centimeters by 6 centimeters, joined using mortise and tenon joinery methods to ensure structural rigidity without relying on visible metal brackets or fasteners. The base incorporates a sturdy platform floor panel made of 2-centimeter-thick teak planks, providing a stable footing that distributes the total weight evenly across the floor surface.

The upper section of the assembly features an integrated architectural frame resembling a miniature building facade, characterized by vertical slat detailing and clean geometric lines. These teak slats are spaced precisely 1.5 centimeters apart, allowing filtered light and air to pass through while maintaining a distinct spatial boundary. Integrated into this central vertical structure is a rectangular mirror measuring 60 centimeters by 80 centimeters, framed in solid teak with a mitered corner construction. The mirror glass is 5 millimeters thick, backed with a moisture-resistant coating to withstand condensation and environmental wear.

Directly beneath the mirror, the integrated vanity console provides a functional horizontal surface measuring 110 centimeters in length and 45 centimeters in depth. The tabletop is constructed from edge-glued solid teak boards, sanded smooth to a natural finish that highlights the straight grain patterns and golden-brown coloration characteristic of mature Tectona grandis. Beneath the tabletop, two integrated drawers operate on wooden side-runners without mechanical metal ball-bearing slides. Each drawer measures 45 centimeters in width, 35 centimeters in depth, and 10 centimeters in interior height, providing organized storage for keys, mail, small accessories, and personal grooming items. The drawer fronts feature recessed pulls carved directly into the lower edge of the teak wood, maintaining a flush, minimalist exterior profile.

The side panels of the VANITY ENTRY BUILDING incorporate vertical louver configurations that match the design language of the main entrance framework. These panels conceal internal vertical gaps while offering structural bracing for the upper canopy and lower console. The finish applied to all exposed teak surfaces is a clear, matte water-based sealer that penetrates the wood pores without forming a glossy plastic film. This treatment preserves the raw tactile feel of the timber while offering resistance against surface stains, liquid spills, and ultraviolet light degradation.

Assembly of the VANITY ENTRY BUILDING requires a two-person team and involves securing the upper frame to the lower console using threaded steel dowels and barrel nuts accessible from pre-bored interior access points. The feet of the unit are fitted with adjustable nylon glide pads, allowing the structure to be leveled on uneven stone, tile, or hardwood flooring surfaces. Maintenance involves periodic wiping with a dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth, followed by the occasional application of natural teak oil to maintain the moisture balance of the timber if placed in exceptionally dry indoor environments. The hardware used internally, including drawer stops and structural fasteners, consists of brass and stainless steel components to prevent rust and galvanic corrosion over extended periods of use. The weight of the complete assembled unit is approximately 65 kilograms, ensuring that it remains securely in place without requiring permanent wall anchoring, although anti-tip brackets are included in the hardware package for installation in households with children or seismic considerations.
