Boomerang Coffee Table

Boomerang Coffee Table

The Boomerang Coffee Table is a low-profile living room surface constructed entirely from solid teak wood. Measuring 100 centimeters in width, 40 centimeters in height, and 72 centimeters in depth, the table occupies 0.2800 cubic meters of spatial volume. Its footprint is defined by an asymmetrical, curved geometry resembling the aerodynamic shape of a traditional throwing boomerang, which diverges from standard rectangular or circular coffee table silhouettes.

The tabletop surface spans a maximum width of 100 centimeters at its widest point and curves inward toward a narrower waist, establishing a distinct directional flow. The perimeter edges of the teak slab feature a softened, eased bevel, which removes sharp 90-degree corners and creates a smooth tactile transition from the top plane to the vertical edges. The thickness of the tabletop measures approximately three centimeters, providing adequate mass to support daily placement of objects without visual heaviness.

The primary material utilized throughout the entire construction is plantation-grown teak wood (Tectona grandis). Teak is chosen for this application due to its high natural rubber and oil content, which prevents moisture absorption and resists warping under fluctuating indoor humidity conditions. The grain pattern on the top surface runs lengthwise along the curved trajectory of the boomerang form, highlighting the natural linear variations and growth rings of the timber. The wood is finished with a clear matte sealer that protects the raw fibers from liquid spills and surface staining while preserving the natural golden-brown coloration of the teak without imparting an artificial gloss or heavy stain.

Supporting the tabletop are three solid teak legs positioned near the extremities of the curved form to ensure structural stability and load distribution. Each leg is securely anchored into mortise and tenon joints recessed directly into the underside of the table. The legs taper slightly from the upper attachment point down to the floor interface, measuring approximately four centimeters in diameter at the top and narrowing to two and a half centimeters at the base. The base of each leg is fitted with a subtle, flush nylon floor glide that prevents direct friction between the wood and hard flooring surfaces, allowing the 40-centimeter height to remain uniform while protecting against scratches during lateral movement.

With a height of 40 centimeters, the table aligns with standard low-seating arrangements such as modern sofas and lounge chairs, positioning the surface within arm’s reach of seated individuals. The 72-centimeter depth allows the table to accommodate larger seating layouts, providing sufficient reach across sectional sofas or curved seating configurations. The 0.2800 CBM displacement makes the table relatively compact for freight calculations, while the solid teak construction gives it enough physical weight to remain stable during normal interaction, preventing accidental sliding on smooth floors.

Maintenance requirements for the teak structure are minimal. Routine cleaning requires only a dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth to remove dust and particulate matter. The application of teak oil or specialized wood wax is optional and necessary only if the user prefers to periodically renew the surface sheen, though the factory-applied matte sealer provides long-term baseline protection against everyday wear. The combination of organic geometry, durable hardwood construction, and precise dimensions establishes a functional surface designed for holding books, beverages, and decorative objects within residential or commercial reception spaces.
